The name Liminal Leaf was inspired by the plants that grow from nurse stumps which foster a liminal, constantly changing, space for decay and new life.Nature-based therapy provides the opportunity to engage with the wisdom of Nature, build community, and foster reciprocal relationships with other Nature beings as you navigate grief.

Experience a unique journey through grief with nature as a co-therapist. This nature-based group offers a somatic, sensory-rich space to help you feel more grounded and connected. Each week, we will gather to explore a specific theme related to grief with Nature metaphor and wisdom as our guide—such as navigating the internal storms of winter or the "fog" of autumn—through guided mindfulness and personal reflection.Together, we will engage in experiential practices such as art expression and journaling when connecting with Nature, designed to help you connect with nature allies and the group community. After each activity, we hold space for reflection, allowing what emerges to support your journey with grief.

Welcome! My name Is Miriam Saucedo. I facilitate nature-based therapy groups in Portland, OR. I have been a licensed professional counselor since 2017. I am trans, queer and neurodivergent affirming. I approach our relationships with our bodies from a Health at Every Size (HAES) framework, which celebrates body diversity, intersecting identities, compassionate self-care, and challenges cultural assumptions about food and bodies. It is rooted within social justice and anti-oppression. I completed my Ecotherapy certification with the Earthbody Institute and I have been facilitating nature based therapy and mindfulness practices over the last four years, including Nature-based support for grief. I personally experience an expansion of my awareness when I am mindfully present with Nature, allowing more space for my thoughts and feelings. This, in turn, helps me feel more present with myself and increases my ability to respond to my needs. I hope to offer a similar experience to you.In addition to navigating my own experiences with grief, I have pursued additional training in grief therapy, and I currently serve as a hospice volunteer. I believe we all hold various types and weights of grief, and dominating U.S. culture does not always prioritize holding space for grief. As a therapist, I have worked in college/university and residential treatment (substance use and mental health) settings.I am a white (Scandinavian, German and Croatian settler descent), cis woman (she/her). As a nature based therapist with these privileged identities, it is important for me to center the deep wound of colonialism: the forced removal and harm inflicted on Indigenous people, as well as a legacy of racism that attempts to separate Black and Indigenous communities from more-than-human relationships. These realities can significantly impact one's experience in natural spaces.I reside and work on the unceded land of the Multnomah, Atfalati, Clackamas, and many others.

Thank you, Fir tree (Location: Portland, OR)
